1. Who we are

In short: BARBERZ.LOL is run by BARBERZ.LOL. We decide how the little information we handle is used, so we are responsible for it.

This policy explains how personal information is handled when you use the BARBERZ.LOL game (on iOS, Android and the web preview at barberz.lol/play) and the website barberz.lol. The data controller is the operator of BARBERZ.LOL (“we”, “us”).

For anything about your personal information, email privacy@barberz.lol. We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer because we are not required to; privacy@barberz.lol reaches the person responsible for privacy.

2. Information we collect

In short: The game does not send us any personal information. The website only produces standard technical logs at our host. If you email us, we receive your email.

The game

  • Game data on your device. Characters, outfits, rooms, scenes, unlocked items, discovered secrets and settings are saved on your device only. The game has no backend, makes no network requests and never sends this data to us or anyone else.
  • Photos you choose to save. If you press Capture in the Photo Studio, the picture is saved to your device (on the web it downloads as a file; on mobile it opens your device’s share sheet). The image contains only your in-game scene.

The web preview (/play)

  • Your progress is saved in your browser’s local storage on your device. All engine files and fonts are served from barberz.lol itself; no third-party content delivery network is used.

This website

  • Technical logs. When you visit barberz.lol, our hosting provider Vercel Inc. (United States) automatically processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request, so the site can be delivered and protected from abuse.
  • Display preferences. Night Shift, .LOL MODE and the website secrets you find are stored in your browser’s local storage. They never leave your device. See our cookies & storage notice.

When you contact us

  • No contacts or address book
  • No microphone or camera access
  • No advertising identifiers and no advertising
  • No analytics, crash reporting or behavioural tracking in the game or on this website

We do not sell personal information, share it for advertising, or use it for profiling or automated decision-making.

5. Children’s privacy

In short: BARBERZ.LOL is played by children, so it is built to work without collecting their personal information.

BARBERZ.LOL is designed for families and follows the principles of the UK Age Appropriate Design Code (the Children’s Code): high privacy by default, no profiling, no nudge techniques, no location tracking and no public sharing. It is also designed to meet the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by not collecting personal information from children at all.

The game has no accounts, chat, ads, purchases or public sharing. Our support pages ask children to involve a parent or guardian before contacting us. If a child emails us, we use their message only to reply (or to reply to their parent) and delete it when the request is closed. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email privacy@barberz.lol and we will delete it.

6. Parents and guardians

Parents and guardians can ask us to show, correct or delete any personal information we hold about their child (in practice, this can only be support emails) and can ask us not to collect any more. Email privacy@barberz.lol. We may ask a couple of questions to confirm you are the child’s parent or guardian before acting on the request.

7. How long we keep information

8. Who we share information with

We only use service providers that process information on our instructions under a data processing agreement:

  • Website hosting: Vercel Inc. (United States)
  • Email hosting: our business email provider, which stores the emails you send us

Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play) distribute the app under their own privacy policies; we do not receive personal information about you from them. We will update this list before any new provider is used. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

9. International transfers

Our hosting provider is based in the United States, so website technical logs may be processed there. When personal information leaves the UK, we make sure it is protected by a recognised safeguard, such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses included in our provider’s data processing agreement.

10. Security

The safest data is data that doesn’t exist, so we collect as little as possible. The website is served only over HTTPS with strict security headers and loads no third-party scripts, and access to our mailboxes is limited to the people who need it and protected by multi-factor authentication. See our security page.

11. Deleting data

  • Game data: in the game, open the Parent Area from Settings and choose Reset game, or uninstall the app.
  • Web preview and website preferences: clear this site’s data in your browser settings.
  • Support emails: email privacy@barberz.lol and we will delete them within one month, unless the law requires us to keep them.

12. Your rights

Under UK data protection law (and similar laws in the EU and elsewhere) you have the right to ask for a copy of your personal information, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. To use any of these rights, email privacy@barberz.lol. We will reply within one month, free of charge.

If you are unhappy with how we handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113, or to the data protection authority where you live.

California residents: we do not sell or share personal information, and you have the right to know about and delete the information we hold.

14. Changes to this policy
