BARBERZ.LOL is in development. These answers describe the game as it is being built today. If anything changes, this page will be updated before the change ships.
What is BARBERZ.LOL?
BARBERZ.LOL is a family-friendly, open-ended creative game for phones and tablets (iOS and Android), with a web preview. Players create characters, cut and style hair in a barber shop, decorate rooms, explore a small city and make up their own stories.
There is no fixed mission, no score to beat and no “wrong” way to play. Think of it as a digital toybox built around a barber shop.
Status: the game is in development and not yet in the app stores.
How does it work?
Children tap, drag and drop objects: put a character in the barber chair, pick up the scissors, spray some water, choose a color, then look in the mirror. They can move between locations (the shop, an apartment, a café, a park, a clothing store, a rooftop), save scenes, and use optional “story cards” as prompts — for example “The Mystery Customer”.
All hair coloring and styling is cartoon make-believe — it isn’t presented as real-world instructions.
Is BARBERZ.LOL offline? Does the game work without internet?
Yes. The core game is designed to work fully offline: creating characters, cutting hair, decorating, exploring, story cards, saving scenes and taking screenshots.
If optional online features (such as cloud backup) are ever added, they will be optional, and the core game will never be blocked by a “connection required” message.
Does it require an account?
No. The first version has no accounts and no sign-in. Children can start playing straight away. We don’t ask for a name, email address, phone number or birthday to play.
Characters can be given names inside the game, but they are fictional and stay on the device.
Does the game have chat?
No. There is no chat, no direct messaging, no friend requests, no public profiles, no comments and no way for players to share files with other players. Children cannot be contacted by strangers through the game.
If any community feature is considered in the future, it would only launch with safety measures in place first — moderation, reporting, blocking, privacy controls and parental controls — and these pages would be updated before it launched.
Does it show ads?
No. The first version contains no advertising of any kind, and no advertising trackers.
Are there purchases?
No — there are no in-app purchases in the first version. The final price model (for example, a one-time purchase) has not been decided; it will be shown clearly on the store page before you download.
If optional extras such as cosmetic or expansion packs are ever added, they will be clearly priced and described, handled only by Apple or Google’s own payment systems, and protected by the device’s parental controls where required. We will never use loot boxes, countdown pressure, forced purchases or pay-to-progress mechanics.
What data do we collect?
The game is designed so it doesn’t need to collect personal information. Today:
- No account, name, email, phone number or birthday is requested.
- No location, contacts, microphone or camera access is needed.
- No analytics or advertising trackers are used.
- Game progress (characters, outfits, rooms, scenes, settings) is saved on the device only.
- If your child saves a screenshot, the device asks for permission to use the photo library at that moment.
See the privacy policy for details, or email privacy@barberz.lol.
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party trackers. It stores a few display preferences (like Night Shift) in your browser only.
How can I delete data?
Because saves live on your device, you are always in control:
- In the game: Settings → Data → Reset Save. You’ll be asked to confirm before anything is deleted. You can also reset a single location (for example “Reset Barber Shop”).
- Uninstalling the app removes its saved data from the device (unless you exported a backup yourself).
- Web preview: clear this site’s data in your browser settings.
We don’t hold a copy of your child’s game on our servers, so there is nothing for us to delete. If you have sent us a support email, you can ask us to delete that conversation — see below.
Can we back up or move a save?
The game is planned to include Export Save and Import Save (a .barberzsave file) in Settings → Data, so you can keep a copy or move to a new device. The file stays wherever you choose to keep it.
How can I contact support?
Use the contact form or email support@barberz.lol. Choose the “Privacy” or “Safety” topic for privacy and child-safety requests — these are handled separately from general game questions.
We ask children under 13 to get a parent or guardian to contact us for them.
Tips for playing together
- Try a story card together and take turns deciding what happens next.
- Use your device’s own parental controls (Screen Time on iOS, Family Link on Android) to manage play time and downloads.
- Ask your child to show you the secrets they’ve found — there are plenty hidden in ordinary objects.
